Project Notes – Nouri Sweater
Spring has suddenly sprung on us, and we’re excited to test out our great selection of Spring and Summer yarns here at Handknit. We thought we’d start sharing our project notes with you as we progress through our sample knits.
First up is Kate’s project: she’s knitting the Nouri sweater from last Summer’s Pom Pom Quarterly. So many great patterns in that issue that we didn’t get around to making, so now’s the time! Kate is working with Lang Yarns Amira- a super soft aran weight yarn with a brushed cotton feel that is perfect for the Nouri pattern.
Kate is making the 43 1/4″ size, and got gauge at 16 sts and 24 rows using 5.5mm needles! In her experience with garments and cotton yarns, the fabric tends to grow after blocking, so she’s aiming for about a 46″ with 1 or 2″ positive ease. For this project, Kate will need:
-Lang Yarns Amira 8 balls
– 5.5 mm Chiao Goo Red Stainless Steel 32″ circular needles
– Handknit enamel (beginning of round) stitch marker and metal stitch markers
– Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 17: Summer Issue
Keep posted in Project Notes, to see Kate’s progress from start to finish! Here’s her progress so far:
