Yoga for Knitters Workshop!

On November 18th, we are hosting a special workshop with Robin Yolanda Lamarr- yoga instructor and avid knitter- right here at Handknit Yarn Studio. In this 1.5 hour workshop, Robin will guide us through simple yoga based movements that can help to stretch and strengthen the areas of our bodies that commonly tend to suffer the most strain for us as knitters. She will discuss ways that we can incorporate a simple practice into our long periods of knitting time, and even in the physical space where we knit.

Robin has been teaching yoga and pilates in Hamilton and Toronto since 2013, and has been a great addition to our local community. You can check her out at

No materials or equipment needed, as this workshop will be done mostly on our chairs, and around our communal table. Loose comfortable clothing is recommended.

This workshop can be hugely beneficial to anyone who feels the aches and strain that comes from long periods of sitting and knitting. The workshop is on Saturday November 18th, from 1-2:30pm, and costs $25. Just drop in or call to register (space is limited).

Gift Kits

Take the guesswork out of gift giving! We’ve paired some of our favourite patterns with great yarns that are suitable for the project, and put them together as kits, so you don’t have spend precious knitting time wondering what to knit, or give, your family and friends. Every pattern we’ve selected are ones we’ve knit ourselves- so we know you will enjoy, knit, or give, with confidence that your project will turn out great!

We still have space in some of our November project based workshops: Two-at-a-Time-Toe-Up Magic Loop Socks (must have traditional sock knitting experience), Brioche Stitch Cowl Workshop, Crochet Scrubbies, and another Thrummed Slipper Workshop too. We’ll be posting Winter classes and workshops soon! Check out full class details here.
