If you haven’t discovered Ravelry yet, now is the time! Ravelry is a free social networking sight for a variety of fibre arts. Designers offer projects, members share their projects as well as yarn and fibre stashes. Thousands of projects are available for free and to purchase. And as luck would have it, Ravelry is an indispensable tool for us Local Yarn Shops too!
Here at Handknit Yarn Studio, we’ve made it our mission to keep you up-to-date with our Ravelry Group page. Here you’ll see all our general store details- hours of operation, location, and contact details.
We also want to keep you in the loop by posting our upcoming events, featured bundles for project favourites as well as upcoming knitalongs, and by sharing projects- ours and yours.
Here’s a screen shot of our Group page:
Check out our latest “Colourwork: Big and Small” bundle for inspirational project ideas and join our Colourwork knitalong starting March 11th. We meet every second Sunday to social knit for the duration of the knitalong, and if you finish your project by the deadline date, you have a chance to win a prize! You can check out the details in the “Upcoming Events” window under “ColourworkKAL2018”
Remember you can always share your work on our group page, and seeing each others’ progress is part of the fun! Here’s screen shot showing you how to share your project:
Our next few blog posts are going to focus on Ravelry as a resource to help you improve your knitting skills. We will talk about different topics — how to add your personal stash and yarn tools to your profile, the process of finding projects for the yarn in your stash, getting help for a specific project in Ravelry forums, how to share your projects and suggestions for groups to join.
We would also like to offer a workshop for those who are interested in exploring Ravelry further so send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will put your name on our list.
